Four Paws Wines is a small, boutique South African producer known for crafting expressive, small-batch wines with personality. Sourced from select vineyard sites across the Western Cape, the focus is on balance and drinkability rather than heavy-handed winemaking. “Picatso” reflects a playful, artistic approach - blending varietals to create a wine that is both distinctive and approachable. Gentle handling in the cellar, with considered oak ageing, allows the fruit to remain central while adding depth and structure. The 375ml format makes this an accessible, versatile option without compromising on quality or intent.

Colour:
Deep ruby with a slightly garnet rim, showing some maturity.

Nose:
Ripe plum and dark cherry lead, with layers of dried fruit, sweet spice, and a hint of mocha. Subtle earthy notes and a touch of leather reflect the wine’s age.

Palate:
Medium-bodied with softened tannins and integrated acidity. The fruit has evolved into richer, slightly savoury tones - think stewed berries and spice - balanced by gentle oak influence. Smooth and rounded rather than bold.

Finish:
Soft, warming, and persistent, with lingering dark fruit and a faint cocoa note.

  • Food Pairing : Four Paws Picatso 2015 is well suited to comforting, flavourful dishes. It pairs beautifully with slow-cooked beef stew or oxtail, where the wine’s softened tannins and evolved fruit complement the richness. Grilled boerewors or lamb chops also work well, as the smoky, savoury elements echo the wine’s mature character. For something lighter, try it with a mushroom and thyme tart or aged cheddar - the wine’s earthy undertones and gentle spice bring out the depth in these dishes without overwhelming them.
  • Drink before: Cellaring potential: Drinking well now; can hold for a further 2–4 years if well stored.
  • Vintage: 2015
  • Region: Western Cape
  • Alcohol Content: 14%
