Boland Cellar has deep roots in the Cape Winelands, sourcing hand-picked fruit from well-established vineyards around Paarl and neighbouring Malmesbury where clay-rich Oakleaf and deep red duplex soils help Merlot develop both ripe fruit intensity and structural balance. Winemaking here blends a respect for terroir with thoughtful oak integration: after careful sorting and gentle extraction, this Reserve Merlot spends around 16 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, striking a pleasing balance between varietal purity and complexity. The result is a confident, richly structured wine that speaks clearly of its Paarl origins without unnecessary flash.
Colour: Deep ruby with purple tones, showing the wine’s concentration and youth.
Nose: Aromas of red cherries, ripe plums and young berry fruits lead, with cedar-like oak spice and subtle savoury hints adding depth without overshadowing the fruit.
Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured, the palate offers layered red fruit flavours supported by smooth, integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Gentle oak influence brings spice and complexity, while the wine retains a vibrant fruit core.
