Stellekaya Wines is a boutique producer in the heart of Stellenbosch, a region internationally respected for Cabernet Sauvignon thanks to its warm days, cooling maritime influence and diverse soils, particularly decomposed granite. These conditions help produce grapes with ripe fruit concentration while retaining the structure and freshness needed for age-worthy reds. The estate has built its reputation around Bordeaux varietals and small-scale, hands-on winemaking. Stellekaya follows a restrained cellar approach, using oak to support rather than dominate the wine. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon reflects this philosophy with a polished, site-driven style that combines power, precision and classic Stellenbosch character. Colour: Deep ruby red with youthful brightness and a dense crimson core. Nose: Blackcurrant, cassis and ripe plum lead the aromatics, followed by graphite, cedar, dried herbs and a touch of violet. Palate: Structured yet refined, with flavours of dark berries, black cherry and subtle tobacco notes. Firm but fine-grained tannins give shape, while fresh acidity keeps the palate focused and energetic. Oak influence adds texture and spice without overwhelming the fruit. Finish: Long and dry, finishing with cassis, cedar and savoury spice.
