Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Neil Ellis Wines has long been recognised as one of the pioneering producers behind South Africa’s modern fine wine movement, with a strong focus on sourcing fruit from vineyards best suited to each varietal. Rather than relying on a single estate, the philosophy centres on matching grape variety to terroir, allowing each wine to express a genuine sense of place.
For the Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2024, fruit is sourced from vineyards near Darling on the West Coast, where the cool Atlantic Ocean plays a defining role in the wine’s character. The Groenekloof area is known for its decomposed granite and clay soils, low-yielding bush vines and consistently cool maritime conditions, all of which contribute to the wine’s vibrant acidity and mineral edge. Careful handling in the cellar, including partial spontaneous fermentation and time spent on the lees, adds texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s natural freshness.
Colour:
Pale straw with a bright green tint.

Long, clean and refreshing, finishing with lingering citrus, soft herbal notes and a lightly saline edge.

- Food Pairing : Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is exceptionally food-friendly thanks to its bright acidity and mineral freshness. It pairs naturally with fresh oysters, grilled hake, sushi or West Coast mussels, where the citrus and saline notes mirror the flavours of the sea beautifully. The wine also works well with summer salads, goat’s cheese or herb-roasted chicken, as its freshness lifts lighter dishes while the textured palate provides enough weight for richer elements like creamy dressings or soft cheeses.
