Hasher Nauticus Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
The Hasher Family Estate is a young, family-run venture based in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley on the Cape South Coast, a region prized for its cool maritime climate and long ripening season. Here, proximity to the ocean and breezy conditions help preserve natural acidity in white grape varieties, particularly Sauvignon Blanc. The 2024 Hasher Nauticus Sauvignon Blanc reflects this sense of place: fruit is hand-picked from vineyard sites close to the sea, fermented partly in concrete eggs and seasoned oak to enhance texture, then matured on lees to build complexity without masking the wine’s inherent vibrancy. This hands-on, terroir-driven philosophy aims to express the fresh, saline-tinged character that the cool coastal sites make possible.
Colour:
Pale straw-yellow with bright clarity in the glass.
Nose:
Lifted green apple and zesty citrus aromas are complemented by flinty minerality and hints of fresh herbs. There are also subtle tropical fruit nuances underlying the vibrant core.
Palate:
Dry and medium-bodied, the palate combines crisp citrus zest with notes of exotic fruit, supported by a hint of lees-derived texture from time in concrete eggs. The wine’s cool-climate acidity gives energy and lift throughout.
Finish:
The finish is clean and refreshing, with saline-tinged mineral notes that echo the wine’s coastal origins and leave a lingering sense of freshness.

Hasher Nauticus Sauvignon Blanc 2024
- Food Pairing : Hasher Nauticus Sauvignon Blanc 2024 shines with fresh, lively food. Its bright acidity and citrus profile make it an excellent match for a zesty salmon ceviche or grilled linefish with lemon and herbs, where the wine’s energetic fruit cuts through the richness. It also pairs beautifully with a crisp garden salad with goat’s cheese or with oysters and shellfish, as the saline mineral edge in the wine complements the ocean-fresh flavours on the plate. The textural complexity from lees contact makes simple creamy pasta with garden peas and mint surprisingly rewarding too.
