Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Grande Provence Estate, situated in the heart of Franschhoek, combines centuries-old heritage with a contemporary approach to winemaking. The vineyards benefit from a unique terroir shaped by decomposed granite soils and the valley’s cooling afternoon breezes, which help preserve natural acidity and aromatic purity in the grapes.
At Grande Provence, the philosophy leans toward minimal intervention, allowing the Sauvignon Blanc to express its site clearly. Careful harvesting at optimal ripeness and cool fermentation in stainless steel ensure that freshness, clarity of fruit, and varietal character remain at the forefront. The result is a wine that reflects both the classic restraint of Old-World Sauvignon Blanc and the vibrant fruit expression associated with the Cape.
Colour:
Pale straw with a subtle green tint, bright and clear in the glass.
Nose:
Lifted aromas of gooseberry, lime zest and green apple lead, followed by hints of passion fruit, freshly cut grass and a touch of flinty minerality.
Palate:
Light- to medium-bodied with a crisp, lively acidity. Flavours of citrus, tropical fruit and green melon carry through, supported by a clean, linear structure that keeps the wine focused and refreshing.
Finish:
Zesty and dry, with lingering notes of citrus peel and a gentle mineral edge.
- Food Pairing : Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc 2023 pairs effortlessly with fresh, flavour-driven dishes. Try it with grilled line fish or snoek pâté, where the wine’s acidity cuts through richness and enhances delicate seafood flavours. It works equally well with a goat’s cheese salad or asparagus risotto, echoing the wine’s herbaceous notes. For something more casual, serve alongside sushi or peri-peri chicken - the freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc balances spice and keeps the palate lively.
