Boplaas Bobbejaanberg Sauvigon Blanc 2024
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Boplaas Family Vineyards, a multi-generation wine and distilling estate anchored in Calitzdorp’s Klein Karoo, blends Old World craftsmanship with South Africa’s diverse terroirs. While best known for fortified wines and brandy, the winery’s Bobbejaanberg Sauvignon Blanc 2024 showcases its commitment to terroir-specific table wines. Grapes are sourced from windswept bush vines planted at over 650 m elevation on decomposed sandstone soils in the Upper-Langkloof - a site that delivers extended ripening and vibrant natural acidity. Hand harvesting, cool-temperature fermentation and lees contact in stainless steel help preserve pure fruit expression and a sleek, refreshing structure.
Colour: Pale lemon-green with brilliance and youthful clarity.
Nose: Aromas of lime leaf and subtle white peach rise first, followed by lemongrass, sugar snap pea and hints of green chilli, capsicum and green asparagus - a bouquet typical of Sauvignon Blanc’s expressive spectrum.
Palate: The palate is sleek and svelte, carrying citrus-driven flavours with a touch of oystershell minerality. Bright acidity keeps the profile taut and refreshing, while a whisper of fynbos character adds local intrigue.
Finish: A fresh, crisp finish lingers with citrus zest and saline notes that reflect the cool-climate origin and make for an engaging, thirst-quenching experience.

- Food Pairing : Boplaas Bobbejaanberg Sauvignon Blanc 2024 pairs beautifully with fresh, lively dishes that echo its citrus intensity and bright acidity. Think chilled West Coast oysters with lemon and a touch of sea salt - the wine’s citrus and grassy aromatics elevate the briny freshness. A lime-dressed calamari salad or grilled calamari with chilli and parsley brings out the Sauvignon Blanc’s herbal notes, while sushi, prawns with peri-peri marinade or lemon-butter sole deliver satisfying contrasts that balance richness with vibrancy. Completing the experience, a fresh goat’s cheese salad lets the wine’s acidity and fruit clarity shine without overwhelming subtler flavours.
