Morgenhof Wine Estate lies on the fertile slopes of the Simonsberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most respected wine-growing regions. The estate's Chenin Blanc vineyards are between 48 and 50 years old, planted on elevated slopes where varied shale-derived soils and cooling influences help retain freshness while developing flavour concentration. For the 2024 vintage, the grapes were hand-harvested in multiple passes to capture different levels of ripeness and complexity. Fermentation was completed in French oak barrels, followed by partial malolactic fermentation and nine months of maturation in oak. This measured approach adds texture and depth while allowing the vineyard character and varietal expression to remain clearly defined.
Colour: Bright straw gold with youthful green highlights.
Nose: Aromatic and layered, showing ripe pear, apricot and white blossom alongside hints of quince, vanilla spice and a gentle touch of toasted oak.
Palate: Generous yet composed, with flavours of stone fruit, baked apple and ripe pear supported by a creamy texture from barrel fermentation. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively and prevents the richer fruit profile from becoming heavy.
Finish: Long and refined, finishing with lingering orchard fruit, subtle spice and a refreshing citrus lift.
