Clos Malverne is a long-established family-owned estate set in the scenic Devon Valley ward of Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most respected fine wine regions. Sheltered slopes, varied soils and cooling afternoon breezes create favourable growing conditions, allowing grapes to ripen fully while preserving freshness and structure. This balance is particularly valuable for Chenin Blanc, helping the variety deliver both fruit generosity and natural acidity.
The estate has built a reputation for polished, approachable wines that combine classic Cape fruit expression with thoughtful cellar work. For Clos Malverne Chenin Blanc 2024, the fruit was destemmed, crushed and pressed before cool fermentation, with a portion fermented in oak barrels. The wine was then matured on fine lees for three months, adding texture and complexity while retaining freshness.

Nose:
Quince and ripe pear lead the aromatics, followed by lemon curd, baked apple and a gentle hint of vanilla spice.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a rounded texture and generous orchard-fruit core. Pear, apple and citrus notes are layered with subtle creaminess from lees contact and restrained oak influence. Fresh acidity keeps the palate focused and lively.
Finish:
Clean and persistent, finishing on quince, citrus peel and a soft baked-apple note.
