Bruce Jack (Gray, '87), grew up in Muizenberg and attended the school from Sub A. Following an Oenology degree from The University of Adelaide, he returned home and started Flagstone winery. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for excellence have led him to become an internationally acclaimed winemaker, ranked in the Top 100 winemakers in the world. He crafts award-winning wines through his own ventures, including Bruce Jack Wines, Pescaluna Wines (a JV with Gastao Fernandes, School, '87), Ghost in the Machine, Awaken the Arcade, Black Oystercatcher Wines and The Drift Estate.

Chenin blanc is the all-rounder. Versatile, resilient, and well-mannered. Can open the bowling and batting, will hold its own in polite company, and has been know to bring the sun up. Dry, with creamy peach flavours.

  • Food Pairing : Simple fish dishes and other seafood, like scallops, prawns, and crabs. Something spicy like a Thai curry or cheese platters of aged gouda, brie, or goat’s cheese.
  • Drink before: Can be enjoyed now but will age gracefully for 5 years from vintage.
  • Vintage: 2025
  • Region: Carefully chosen vineyards are designated for this Chenin Blanc, each vineyard block is treated distinctively in the winery to emphasize their unique qualities. Minimal intervention is employed in the cellar, with fermentation occurring in tanks. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months before being bottled in its youthful state, yielding a fresh, fruit-forward wine with a crisp, clean finish.
