Hartenberg Doorkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2026
Hartenberg Wine Estate is situated in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, where the Western Cape's Mediterranean climate and varied vineyard conditions help produce expressive wines with freshness and character. With a winemaking history dating back to the late 17th century, Hartenberg combines established vineyard knowledge with thoughtful, modern winemaking. The Hartenberg Doorkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2026 is made for approachable, everyday enjoyment while retaining the estate's attention to detail. The grapes are hand-picked at daybreak to help preserve freshness and aromatic character. Most of the free-run juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks, while a portion is fermented separately in amphora before blending. This small addition brings extra texture and complexity without masking Sauvignon Blanc's natural citrus and tropical-fruit character.
Colour: Pale straw yellow with a bright, clear appearance.
Nose: Expressive aromas of passionfruit and ripe fig are complemented by hints of blackcurrant and fresh green notes. The combination gives the wine a tropical-fruit character with a subtle herbal edge.
Palate: Crisp and fruit-forward, with flavours of passionfruit and sweet lime supported by lively acidity. A subtle saline character adds interest and definition, while the wine's texture gives it more presence than a simple, light-bodied Sauvignon Blanc.
Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus, tropical fruit and a delicate saline note.
- Food Pairing : Hartenberg Doorkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2026 pairs beautifully with grilled line fish finished with lemon butter, fresh goat's cheese salad, garlic prawns or a Thai green curry. Its lively acidity refreshes the palate alongside seafood and creamy cheese, while the passionfruit and lime flavours complement dishes with coriander, chilli and citrus. It is also an excellent choice with butter chicken, where the freshness helps balance the creamy sauce and aromatic spices.
