Description
Produced by the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County, northeastern Taiwan, Kavalan has become internationally recognised for producing richly textured whiskies matured in Taiwan’s subtropical climate. Warm temperatures and high humidity accelerate interaction between spirit and oak, allowing younger whiskies to develop remarkable depth and concentration in comparatively short periods.
Kavalan Triple Sherry is matured in a combination of oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and moscatel sherry casks, each contributing different layers of sweetness, spice and dried fruit complexity. The distillery’s approach focuses heavily on cask quality and precision maturation, with the tropical climate helping intensify flavour integration while retaining freshness and balance. The result is a whisky that feels generous and layered without becoming overly heavy.
Colour:
Deep amber with polished mahogany highlights.
Nose:
Aromas of raisin, dried fig and date open the nose, followed by orange peel, dark honey and milk chocolate. Layers of cinnamon, nutmeg and roasted nuts develop with time in the glass.
Palate:
Smooth and rounded, with flavours of dried fruit, toffee and baked plum balanced by gentle oak spice. The oloroso casks bring structure and nuttiness, Pedro Ximénez adds richness and dark sweetness, while moscatel casks contribute floral lift and softer stone-fruit notes. The texture is full and velvety without becoming cloying.
Finish:
Long and warming, with lingering notes of caramel, spice, dried citrus and soft oak.
