African Craft Honeybush Gin is produced by Select Beverage Company, a Cape-based producer focused on creating accessible craft spirits that highlight local ingredients. At the heart of this expression is honeybush - a plant native to South Africa and closely related to rooibos - known for its naturally sweet aroma and gentle, earthy character.

Rather than overpowering the base spirit, the honeybush is integrated into a classic gin framework, allowing juniper to provide structure while the indigenous botanical adds warmth and depth. The result is a distinctly South African interpretation of flavoured gin: rooted in place, expressive without excess, and designed for easy, everyday enjoyment.

Colour:
Crystal clear with a bright, clean appearance.

Nose:
Soft and inviting, with floral honeybush aromatics leading. Subtle notes of caramelised tea, light citrus, and underlying juniper add balance and lift.

Palate:
Rounded and smooth, showing gentle honeyed sweetness upfront, quickly balanced by classic juniper and a touch of spice. The texture is soft but not heavy, keeping the profile approachable and well-defined.

Finish:
Lingering and slightly warming, with delicate spice and a faint earthy dryness from the honeybush that keeps it clean.

  • Food Pairing : African Craft Honeybush Gin pairs particularly well with dishes that carry gentle spice or natural sweetness. It works beautifully with Cape Malay curries, where the honeybush softens aromatic spices, and with grilled chicken glazed in honey and mustard, echoing the gin’s rounded profile. It’s equally at home with roasted butternut or sweet potato dishes, where its subtle warmth complements earthy flavours. For lighter options, try it with a citrus-dressed salad or goat’s cheese - the freshness lifts the richness while the botanical notes tie everything together.
