Situated on the rolling hills overlooking False Bay, Zevenwacht Wine Estate has been a respected part of the Stellenbosch wine landscape for generations. The estate's vineyards benefit from cooling maritime influences, helping to preserve freshness and balance in the grapes while allowing full flavour development. The 7even range reflects Zevenwacht's commitment to producing approachable, everyday wines that remain true to their origin. For the Zevenwacht 7even Shiraz Grenache 2023, fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites between 100 and 200 metres above sea level. The wine was matured in seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months, adding subtle complexity while allowing the fruit character to remain at the forefront.
Colour: Deep ruby red with youthful purple highlights.
Nose: A generous nose of blackberries, raspberries and ripe plums, complemented by notes of cracked black pepper and subtle sweet spice. The fruit-forward aromatics are lifted by delicate oak nuances.
Palate: Medium-bodied and juicy, showing layers of dark berry fruit and plum. Soft, pliable tannins provide structure without heaviness, while fresh acidity keeps the wine lively and approachable. Gentle oak spice adds depth and texture.
Finish: Smooth and fruit-driven, with lingering notes of blackberry, plum and pepper spice that fade gradually into a subtle savoury finish.
