Waterkloof Boreas 2020
Bordeaux Blend
Description
Waterkloof Wines was purchased by UK wine merchant Paul Boutinot in 2003. It is a dramatically modern winery perched on the top of a hill (the Schapenberg) on the outer fringes of Stellenbosch and on the boundary of the Helderberg, looking out to False Bay. The Waterkloof Boreas 2020 is a red wine blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc complements the other varieties very well, bringing elegance to the wine. Showing a variety of aromatics such as notes of redcurrant, plums and a slight hint of pencil shavings on the nose, the wine displays freshness, delicacy and good structure. Offering great enjoyment in its youth, especially once decanted for a couple of hours, Boreas has a long future ahead and will develop in complexity over the next 10-15+ years.
