In 1995 the McNaught family purchased an old fruit farm which they replanted to vines and built a small cellar in which to produce the first wines under the Stony Brook label. In 2011, the owners were joined by their son, Craig McNaught, who took over the reigns as winemaker. Their winemaking philosophy is firmly rooted in the old-world, but whilst their approach to winemaking is more traditional, their outlook on planting and assemblage is an exploratory one. The Stony Brook Cabernet Franc 2020 is a deep crimson in colour, with lively red pepper, Cape fynbos and dark chocolate on the nose. The immediate brightness on the palate gives way to intense concentration with lengthy tannins and an elegant, dry finish.
