Nestled beneath the Franschhoek Mountains, Holden Manz Wine Estate has built a reputation for producing wines that combine New World fruit expression with Old World structure and restraint. The estate benefits from a unique terroir shaped by mountain slopes, varied soils and cooling afternoon breezes that help preserve freshness and balance in the vineyards. The Holden Manz Vernissage 2022 is crafted as an approachable yet characterful red blend, showcasing the estate's philosophy of creating wines that are expressive, food-friendly and true to their origin. Each variety was fermented separately following careful bunch and berry selection, with minimal intervention in the cellar. The final blend matured for 18 months in third-fill French oak barrels before spending additional time in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity and harmony.
Colour: Deep ruby red with a vibrant garnet rim.
Nose: Generous aromas of mulberry, blackberry and dark cherry lead the way, supported by hints of plum, subtle spice and a touch of cedar. The fruit remains fresh and expressive while savoury notes add complexity.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied with ripe black fruit flavours at its core. Notes of plum, blackberry and blackcurrant are complemented by gentle spice and soft oak influence. The tannins are smooth and polished, creating a rounded texture that remains balanced and approachable.
Finish: Long and silky, with lingering dark berry fruit, soft spice and refined tannins that leave a savoury impression.
