Situated on the shores of the Bot River Lagoon in Walker Bay, Benguela Cove Wine Estate benefits from one of South Africa's most distinctive cool-climate terroirs. Maritime influences from the nearby Atlantic Ocean and the moderating effect of the lagoon create ideal conditions for slow, even ripening, helping grapes retain freshness while developing depth and complexity. Under the guidance of Cellarmaster Johann Fourie, Benguela Cove combines meticulous vineyard management with modern winemaking to produce wines that express both place and varietal character. The Lighthouse Collection Moody Lagoon is inspired by the ever-changing lagoon itself, reflecting the diversity and balance found across the estate's vineyards.
Colour: Deep ruby red with youthful garnet highlights.
Nose: Expressive aromas of dark berries, wild cherries and mulberries lead the way, followed by notes of cedar, dried herbs, rosemary and subtle spice.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied with layers of black fruit, blueberry and ripe plum. The blend offers impressive concentration without heaviness, supported by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins. Savoury herbal nuances and gentle oak influence add complexity while maintaining an approachable style.
Finish: Long and poised, with lingering dark fruit, cedar and fresh herb notes carrying through the finish.
