Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2024 is produced by Saronsberg Cellar, situated beneath the Saronsberg Mountain in the Tulbagh Valley of the Western Cape. Surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges, the estate benefits from a distinctive landscape and varied vineyard soils that contribute to the character of its wines. Tulbagh's warm, dry summers help Shiraz develop ripe, concentrated fruit, while cooler conditions and differences in elevation across the valley can preserve freshness and aromatic detail. Saronsberg combines traditional vineyard practices with modern winemaking techniques, focusing on careful fruit selection and considered oak maturation. The Provenance Shiraz is made entirely from Shiraz grapes. French oak maturation adds structure and complexity, while the wine's signature style centres on ripe red and black fruit, floral notes and the distinctive herbal character of Cape fynbos. The result is a full-bodied South African Shiraz with generous fruit, rounded tannins and a smooth finish.

Colour: Deep ruby red with rich, youthful colour and dark purple tones.
Nose: Fragrant dark fruit aromas lead, with ripe blackberries and red plums complemented by hints of red peppercorn and gentle spice. Floral notes and subtle fynbos nuances add a distinctly South African character.
Palate: Full-bodied and generously textured, with flavours of ripe red berries, black fruit and juicy plum. Soft, well-integrated tannins give the wine a smooth, rounded mouthfeel, while subtle spice and floral notes add complexity. The oak influence contributes depth without overshadowing the fruit, making this a Shiraz with both richness and an approachable texture.
Finish: Smooth and lingering, with dark fruit, gentle spice and a subtle savoury herbal note. The silken texture and rounded tannins leave a satisfying impression.

  • Food Pairing : Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz 2024 pairs beautifully with flame-grilled steak, braaied lamb chops, slow-cooked beef short ribs or a hearty venison casserole. Its generous dark fruit and soft tannins complement the savoury richness of grilled meat, while the peppery spice works particularly well with rosemary, thyme and cracked black pepper. For a meat-free alternative, try it with roasted aubergine, mushroom risotto or a lentil and vegetable casserole, where earthy flavours complement the wine's savoury character. It is a versatile red for a traditional South African braai or a relaxed winter dinner.
