Boplaas Family Vineyards sits in the rugged Klein Karoo, a semi-arid corner of the Western Cape where South Africa’s wine pioneers found unexpected success with Rhône and Portuguese varieties alongside home-grown classics. Established in 1880 and still family-run today, Boplaas blends a deep respect for tradition with pragmatic winemaking aimed at expressive, approachable wines. In the 2024 Pinotage, grapes from mature vineyards are harvested at optimal ripeness and matured in seasoned French oak, allowing the varietal’s distinctive South African identity - a direct result of its unique heritage and place.
Colour: Bright ruby-garnet with youthful clarity and a glint of red.
Nose: Aromas of fresh strawberry and mulberry show first, with hints of raspberry jam and a subtle cocoa nuance adding depth.
Palate: Medium-bodied and fruit-driven, this Pinotage offers juicy red berry flavours layered with a touch of earthy complexity. Rounded texture meets gentle acidity and supple tannins, giving the wine immediate appeal without heaviness.
