Dornier Wines lies at the foot of the Stellenbosch Mountains in the acclaimed Golden Triangle of the Western Cape, where decomposed granite soils and altitude deliver ripe, expressive red varieties with natural concentration and freshness. Founded in 1995 and named after artist Christoph Dornier, the estate combines a distinctive creative spirit with traditional South African viticulture. The Malbec 2023 comes from low-yielding vineyards on the slopes of Stellenbosch Mountain, fermented with care and aged for two years in French oak to draw out texture and complexity, while keeping the varietal character upfront and lively.
Colour: Deep ruby-garnet with youthful clarity.
Nose: Aromas of ripe dark berries and plum rise first, with violet florals typical of Malbec and subtle earthy spice in the background.
Palate: Medium-full bodied and richly textured, the wine shows juicy black fruit and plum layered with dark chocolate undertones. Fine tannins and balanced acidity give structure without overwhelming the fruit core.
Finish: A long, dry finish echoes ripe berry fruit with poised acidity and a hint of spice that invites another sip.
