Le Riche Wines in Stellenbosch has built its reputation around a single varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded by Etienne Le Riche and now led by Christo Le Riche, the family estate focuses almost exclusively on crafting elegant, terroir-driven expressions of this classic grape. Their philosophy is simple - select exceptional fruit from carefully chosen vineyards across Stellenbosch and allow the character of the region to shine through in the glass.
For the Le Riche Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, grapes are sourced from several respected Stellenbosch wards, including Simonsberg, Jonkershoek and Helderberg. These areas combine decomposed granite soils and gravelly slopes influenced by cooling maritime breezes from False Bay, helping Cabernet Sauvignon develop both concentration and freshness.
In the cellar, vineyard parcels are vinified separately in open-top fermenters before the final blend is assembled. The wine then spends around two years in French oak barrels, building structure and complexity while maintaining the purity of fruit typical of Stellenbosch Cabernet.

Deep garnet with youthful ruby highlights, showing good depth and clarity.
Nose:
Aromatic layers of blackberry, black cherry and plum lead the bouquet, followed by cassis, violets and subtle cedar spice from oak maturation.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry fruit at its core. The structure is defined by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity, while hints of dark chocolate and gentle spice add depth and complexity.
Finish:
Long and savoury, with lingering notes of black fruit, cedar and a touch of cocoa.
