De Meye Trutina Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

De Meye Wine Estate is a small family-owned farm in Stellenbosch where the focus is firmly on estate-grown wines and careful, hands-on farming. All grapes used in the wines are grown on the property, allowing the winemaking team to maintain close control over quality and vineyard expression. The farm sits within the greater Stellenbosch region, an area known for its diverse soils and cooling maritime influences from False Bay that help Cabernet Sauvignon develop both ripeness and structure.

Winemaking at De Meye follows a thoughtful, minimal-intervention approach, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak clearly in the finished wines. Production remains deliberately small, with attention given to vineyard selection, gentle extraction during fermentation, and considered oak maturation. Trutina Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a limited-release bottling produced in small quantities and available primarily through the farm, reflecting the estate’s focus on distinctive, cellar-driven wines.

Colour:
Deep ruby with a dense, almost opaque core and youthful purple edges.

Nose:
Blackcurrant and dark cherry lead the aromatics, followed by hints of cedar, graphite and subtle dried herbs. Gentle notes of tobacco leaf and spice develop with time in the glass.

Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with concentrated cassis and blackberry fruit. Firm, well-defined tannins provide structure, balanced by fresh acidity typical of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon. Layers of dark fruit, savoury spice and a touch of oak complexity unfold across the palate.

Finish:
Long and structured, tapering into notes of blackcurrant, cedar and fine, drying tannins.
