De Meye Wines is a family-run estate situated in the Muldersvlei area of Stellenbosch, where warm days and cooling afternoon breezes create ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon with both ripeness and freshness. The vineyards benefit from Stellenbosch’s well-regarded terroir, helping the fruit develop concentrated flavour while maintaining structure and balance.
The estate follows a thoughtful, hands-on approach to both farming and winemaking, focusing on estate-grown fruit and small-batch production. Rather than relying on excessive oak or extraction, the wines are shaped to reflect vineyard character and vintage conditions. The result is a style that feels restrained, honest and rooted in classic Stellenbosch winemaking traditions, while still offering a polished modern edge.
Colour:
Deep ruby red with a garnet edge, showing good depth and clarity in the glass.
Nose:
Blackcurrant and ripe plum lead the aromatics, followed by notes of cedar, tobacco leaf and subtle dried herbs. With time in the glass, hints of graphite and dark cherry begin to emerge.
Palate:
The palate is medium- to full-bodied with firm yet polished tannins supporting layers of cassis, blackberry and dark plum fruit. There’s a savoury edge running through the wine that keeps the fruit focused, while balanced acidity brings freshness and structure without heaviness.
Finish:
Long and dry, finishing with lingering dark fruit, cedar spice and a touch of earthy complexity.
