Zandvliet My Best Friend Cape Red 2025
Zandvliet Wine Estate, established in 1867 in the Robertson Wine Valley, has built its reputation on producing expressive wines that reflect the region's distinctive limestone-rich soils and warm, sunny climate. Cool evening temperatures help preserve freshness and balance, while the chalky soils contribute structure and elegance to the fruit. The estate combines generations of winemaking experience with a practical, quality-focused approach, crafting wines that are approachable without losing their sense of place. The My Best Friend range celebrates uncomplicated, everyday enjoyment, offering wines made to be shared around the table with family and friends.
Colour: Deep ruby red with youthful purple highlights and good clarity.
Nose: Ripe red berries and juicy plum lead the aromas, followed by gentle notes of blackcurrant, sweet spice and a touch of savoury complexity.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied with soft, rounded tannins and generous fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides blackcurrant character and structure, while the Shiraz adds ripe plum fruit and subtle peppery spice. The wine is smooth, approachable and easy to enjoy without feeling heavy.
Finish: A clean, medium-length finish with lingering red fruit and soft spice that invites another sip.
- Food Pairing : Zandvliet My Best Friend Cape Red 2025 is a versatile red that pairs comfortably with everyday favourites. Try it alongside a traditional South African braai with beef boerewors or grilled rump steak, where the wine's soft tannins complement the smoky flavours. It also works well with beef burgers, slow-cooked lamb stew, tomato-based pasta dishes or mature cheddar. Its ripe fruit and gentle spice make it an easy match for hearty, flavourful meals without overpowering them.
