Boland Cellar is a large producer based in the Paarl region of the Western Cape, working collaboratively with local grape growers across the Boland. The area's combination of warm, dry conditions, mountain influences and varied soils allows the cellar to source fruit from vineyards with different growing conditions and ripening profiles. Boland Cellar's Classic Selection wines are designed to express approachable varietal and regional character, with fruit and freshness taking priority. The Classic Selection Premium Natural Sweet Red NV is made by Boland Cellar as an accessible, fruit-driven red designed to be enjoyed without the need for ageing or elaborate serving rituals. As a non-vintage wine, it is blended for consistency rather than to showcase the character of a single harvest. The current Boland Cellar range lists it as a Classic Selection red and confirms it as a current release.
Colour: Bright ruby red with youthful purple highlights.
Nose: Fresh red berry aromas lead the nose, with ripe strawberry and red cherry followed by hints of plum and subtle sweet spice.
Palate: Soft, fruity and gently sweet, with juicy red berry flavours at the centre. Strawberry, cherry and plum notes give the wine an immediately approachable character, while its modest alcohol level keeps the palate light and easy-drinking. A touch of freshness prevents the sweetness from feeling overly heavy.
Finish: Smooth and pleasantly lingering, with ripe berry fruit and a gentle sweet-spice note.
