Snow Mountain Wines was founded by winemaker James McKenzie with a focus on handcrafted expressions from the diverse terroirs of the Western Cape. Drawing fruit from elevated vineyards overlooking the famed Sneeuwkop slopes near Wellington, the Reserve Pinot Noir is made with thoughtful attention to site and balance: slow, cool harvests, careful sorting and a blend of stainless-steel fermentation followed by maturation in French oak. This approach brings out Pinot Noir's delicate aromatics and textural finesse while honouring both varietal character and regional identity. Colour: Medium ruby with clear ripeness and luminous edges in the glass. Nose: Aromas of dark cherry and ripe red plums are the core here, wrapped with gentle spice nuances and a hint of forest floor that adds lift and complexity. Palate: Medium-bodied but expressive, with juicy dark cherries and cranberry flavours underpinned by balanced acidity. The nine-month maturation in French oak gives structure and gentle savoury layers without overwhelming the fruit. Finish: Clean and slightly spicy, with lingering red fruit and soft tannic grip that invites another sip.
