The Single & Single Alter Ego Glen Garioch 2012 is an independently bottled single malt drawn from casks originally distilled at Glen Garioch Distillery, one of Scotland’s oldest operating distilleries. Located in the village of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, Glen Garioch has been producing whisky since 1797 and is known for its robust Highland style.
Independent bottlers such as Single & Single Whisky select individual casks from established distilleries and release them under their own labels. The Alter Ego series focuses on distinctive single-cask expressions that highlight how maturation influences the character of a whisky.
Distilled in 2012 and matured for several years before bottling, this whisky reflects Glen Garioch’s signature style - a combination of rich malt character, subtle fruit and gentle spice - enhanced by careful cask ageing. These releases are typically bottled at natural strength, allowing the whisky’s texture and flavour concentration to remain intact.
Colour:
Bright amber with golden highlights.
Nose:
Aromatic layers of honeyed malt, baked apple and dried apricot, followed by hints of vanilla, toasted oak and soft spice.
Palate:
Full and textured with flavours of orchard fruit, caramel and malt sweetness. Notes of cinnamon and nutmeg develop alongside subtle oak, giving the whisky depth while maintaining balance.
Finish:
Medium to long, with lingering malt richness, gentle spice and a touch of dried fruit.
