Glenfarclas Distillery, located in Speyside, is one of the few remaining family-owned distilleries in Scotland, run by the Grant family since 1865. The distillery is known for its commitment to traditional methods, including direct-fired stills and a strong emphasis on sherry cask maturation.

This approach gives Glenfarclas whiskies a recognisable house style - rich yet balanced, with a focus on dried fruit, malt sweetness, and gentle spice rather than peat or heavy oak influence. The 10-Year-Old sits at the lighter end of the range, offering an accessible introduction to this classic Speyside profile.

Colour:
Golden amber with warm, inviting tones.

Nose:
Light and fragrant, showing honey, malted barley and soft dried fruit, with hints of spice and a touch of nuttiness.

Palate:
Light to medium-bodied with a smooth, rounded texture. Flavours of toffee, gentle spice and dried fruit develop alongside a soft malt backbone. The sherry influence is present but restrained.

Finish:
Clean and moderately long, with lingering sweetness and a subtle warming spice.

  • Food Pairing : Glenfarclas 10 Year Old is best enjoyed neat or with a small splash of water to open up its softer, sweeter notes. It pairs comfortably with roasted nuts, biltong, or mild cheeses, while dark chocolate desserts highlight its gentle sherry character.
  • Drink before: Best enjoyed within 1 to 2 years after opening the bottle, though it can remain stable for longer if stored properly.
  • Region: Speyside, Scotland
  • Medals Won: International Spirits Challenge 2022: Gold Medal. International Spirits Challenge 2020: Gold Medal (Distillers’ Single Malts 12 years and under). International Spirits Challenge 2019: Silver Medal. International Wine & Spirit Competition 2014: Bronze Medal (Scotch Single Malt - Speyside). World Whisky Awards: Awarded "Best Single Malt Scotch" in its category. Jim Murray's Whisky Bible: Awarded "Master of Malts".
