Allée Bleue Blue Owl Pinotage 2023

Nestled at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains in the Franschhoek Valley, Allée Bleue is one of the Cape's historic wine estates, combining centuries of heritage with a contemporary approach to winemaking. While the estate is based in Franschhoek, the fruit for the Blue Owl Pinotage is sourced from both the estate's vineyards and carefully selected vineyard sites to create a consistently expressive and fruit-driven style. The grapes are harvested in the cool of the morning before undergoing a short cold soak to maximise colour and fruit expression. Following fermentation, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in both barrel and tank before maturing for around 12 months on oak staves. This gentle oak treatment adds subtle complexity while allowing the vibrant character of South Africa's signature grape variety to shine through.

Colour: Bright ruby red with youthful purple highlights.
Nose: Abundant aromas of ripe strawberry and cherry are complemented by hints of chocolate, liquorice and freshly roasted coffee.
Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied, offering generous berry fruit flavours supported by soft, polished tannins. Notes of chocolate and gentle spice add depth without overshadowing the fresh fruit, creating an approachable and well-rounded Pinotage.
Finish: Medium in length, with lingering red berry fruit, subtle mocha notes and an elegant tannin structure that leaves a clean, satisfying finish.
