Bosman Upper Hemel & Aarde Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Bosman Family Vineyards is best known for its Wellington roots, but in recent years the family has focused strongly on cool-climate parcels in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley above Hermanus. Here, vineyards sit close to the Atlantic, with morning mists, afternoon breezes and a long, slow ripening season that suit Sauvignon Blanc perfectly. The grape holds its natural acidity while building fine, citrus-led aromatics and a distinct mineral edge. Bosman’s approach is thoughtful but not fussy: careful picking for flavour and tension, cool fermentation in stainless steel and time on fine lees to add a little texture without masking the vineyard character. The result is a Sauvignon Blanc that feels very much of its place – Cape coastal, bright and precise, with a calm, almost European sense of restraint.
Colour:
Pale straw with a pronounced green tint, luminous and youthful in the glass, hinting at crisp, cool-climate freshness.
Nose:
Lime, lemon and grapefruit lead, backed by green apple and gooseberry. Subtle passion fruit and cape gooseberry add a gentle tropical note, while fresh-cut herbs, nettle and a faint wet-stone character bring a clear Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, ocean-cooled feel.
Palate:
Light to medium-bodied with crisp, linear acidity that feels taut and mouth-watering. The palate follows with citrus, green apple and gooseberry, joined by hints of kiwi and restrained tropical fruit. Lees contact typically adds a slight creaminess through the mid-palate, so the wine feels textured rather than razor-sharp, while staying firmly dry. Overall, it is focused, refreshing and clearly geared for the table rather than simple sipping.
Finish:
Medium to long, with lingering lime, grapefruit pith, fresh herbs and a clean, saline-mineral snap.

Bosman Upper Hemel & Aarde Sauvignon Blanc 2025
- Food Pairing : Bosman Upper Hemel & Aarde Sauvignon Blanc 2025 has vivid acidity and a dry, mineral finish, making it an excellent match for seafood and herb-led dishes. It’s ideal with line fish or hake on the braai with lemon, garlic and fresh herbs, where the citrus and herbal notes in the wine echo the flavours on the plate while cutting through any oiliness. West Coast mussels in a white wine and garlic broth, grilled calamari with chilli and lime, or classic fish and chips with a squeeze of lemon are all natural fits. For everyday meals, think sushi, poké bowls, green salads with feta and olives, goat’s cheese tart, or a simple roast chicken with lemon and thyme – the wine’s freshness keeps everything tasting bright and lifted.
