Leopards Leap Family Vineyards has become known for producing accessible, well-made wines that reflect both the generosity of the Cape winelands and a modern South African approach to winemaking. Based in Franschhoek, the cellar works with fruit sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites across the Western Cape, allowing the winemaking team to balance freshness, ripeness and consistency from vintage to vintage. Leopard’s Leap Chescato 2025 is crafted in a lighter, lower-alcohol style that combines the bright orchard fruit character of Chenin Blanc with the floral aromatics of Muscat. The focus here is on purity, freshness and drinkability rather than complexity or oak influence, making it a relaxed, uncomplicated wine suited to warm weather and easy entertaining.
Colour: Pale straw with youthful green highlights and a bright, clear appearance.
Nose: Expressive aromas of white peach, ripe pear, melon and grape must lead the nose, followed by hints of orange blossom, honeyed citrus and soft floral perfume from the Muscat component.
Palate: Light-bodied and gently sweet, the palate shows flavours of peach, litchi, ripe apple and citrus cordial. The lower alcohol keeps the wine fresh and easy drinking, while the natural acidity prevents the sweetness from feeling heavy. Smooth, fruity and uncomplicated in style.
Finish: Soft and lingering with notes of sweet melon, grape and candied citrus peel.
