Produced by Landskroon Wine Estate on the south-western slopes of Paarl Mountain, Paul de Villiers Reserve is the estate’s flagship Bordeaux-style red blend. Landskroon has been owned and operated by the De Villiers family for five generations, with Paul de Villiers continuing the family’s winemaking heritage as cellarmaster. Winemaker Fanie Geyser works with the estate’s traditional red-wine varieties to create a wine that combines structure, depth and elegance. The components are vinified separately before blending, allowing each variety to contribute its own character. French oak maturation adds texture, spice and savoury complexity while supporting the wine’s dark-fruit profile.
Colour: Deep ruby red with garnet tones.
Nose: Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum and mulberry are complemented by subtle notes of cedar, spice, dark chocolate and savoury almond.
Palate: Full-bodied and concentrated, with layers of dark berries, ripe plum and black fruit. The palate is structured yet smooth, supported by polished tannins, balanced freshness and integrated oak.
Finish: Long and savoury, with lingering dark fruit, spice, gentle oak and a refined tannic grip.
- Food Pairing : The wine’s full body, dark-fruit concentration and structured tannins make it well suited to roasted Karoo lamb shank, grilled rib-eye steak, beef short ribs, venison and mature hard cheeses. Its savoury oak and spice notes also complement a traditional South African braai, particularly lamb chops or beef sosaties.
