Founded by South African golf great Ernie Els in partnership with seasoned winemaker Louis Strydom, the estate balances approachable styles with vineyard-focused winemaking. Grapes for the Big Easy Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 are harvested at optimal phenolic ripeness and show a clear reflection of Stellenbosch terroir - gravelly soils, good Atlantic influence and thoughtful oak contact - producing wine that is expressive yet enjoyable without excess. Colour: Deep ruby with youthful vibrancy hints that catch the light. Nose: A vivid aromatic mix of blackcurrant and plum framed by subtle cedar spice, savoury dried herbs and a touch of liquorice in the background. Palate: Medium-bodied and well-rounded, the palate delivers juicy red and black fruits - cassis, morello cherry and boysenberry - complemented by fine-grained tannins. Toasted oak nuances and a whisper of black tea leaf give added texture without overwhelming the core fruit.
