Glenfarclas 35 Warehouse Edition
Glenfarclas Distillery, situated in Ballindalloch in Scotland’s Speyside region, remains one of the few truly independent family-owned distilleries in Scotch whisky. Owned by the Grant family since 1865, Glenfarclas has earned a reputation for producing classically styled Highland single malts with a strong emphasis on traditional sherry cask maturation and long ageing.
The Glenfarclas 35-Year-Old Warehouse Edition was created after Distillery Manager Callum Fraser identified a parcel of exceptional casks approaching 35 years of maturation in the distillery warehouses. Matured predominantly in Spanish oak ex-sherry casks for over three decades, the whisky reflects Glenfarclas’ hallmark style: rich, deeply layered and unmistakably sherried, yet remarkably balanced for its age.
Presented in a striking red wooden box inspired by the iconic warehouse doors at the distillery, the Warehouse Edition celebrates both the heritage and ageing philosophy that have defined Glenfarclas for generations.
Colour:
Deep polished mahogany with warm amber highlights.
Nose:
Roasted almonds, dark dried fruit and creamy toffee lead the nose, followed by notes of orange peel, Christmas cake, polished oak and soft spice.
Palate:
Rich and layered, with flavours of sherry-soaked fruit cake, raisins, dark chocolate and caramelised nuts. Despite its age, the whisky remains remarkably composed and silky, with warming cinnamon, cocoa powder and subtle oak spice adding depth and complexity.
Finish:
Long, warming and decadent, with lingering notes of cocoa, dried fruit, cinnamon and gentle smoky oak.
- Food Pairing : Glenfarclas 35 Year Old Warehouse Edition is best enjoyed slowly after dinner alongside rich, savoury flavours and darker desserts. Mature cheeses such as aged Gouda or Comté work beautifully with the whisky’s nutty sherry character, while dark chocolate tart, sticky toffee pudding or fruit cake echo its dried-fruit richness and warming spice. For a savoury pairing, cured meats or roasted nuts complement the whisky’s depth and long, cocoa-driven finish particularly well.
