Bosman Adama White 2013
Bosman Family Vineyards, located in Wellington in the Western Cape, is one of South Africa’s most historically rooted wine estates, with a legacy dating back over eight generations. The vineyards are planted across decomposed granite soils, which naturally limit vigour and contribute to concentration and freshness in the wines.
The Adama range is particularly meaningful - named after Adam Appollis, a respected figure among the vineyard workers - and reflects Bosman’s long-standing commitment to social sustainability. Through the Adama Workers’ Trust, employees hold a significant stake in the business, making this a wine shaped not only by terroir, but by shared ownership and generational knowledge.
Winemaking focuses on blending complementary varieties to express balance and drinkability, with each component vinified separately before careful integration. The style leans towards modern Cape blends: fruit-driven but structured, with subtle oak used where it adds texture rather than weight.
Colour:
Light straw with a bright, youthful sheen.
Nose:
Citrus blossom and white peach lead, followed by gentle floral notes and a touch of honeyed nuance. Subtle hints of spice and stone fruit add complexity.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a smooth, rounded mouthfeel balanced by fresh acidity. Flavours of ripe pear, citrus and soft stone fruit unfold, supported by a light textural grip from the blend. The interplay of varieties brings both freshness and a mild richness.
Finish:
Clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus and a delicate floral lift.
- Food Pairing : Bosman Adama White 2013 is a versatile, food-friendly blend that works well with dishes that balance freshness and gentle richness. Grilled fish or prawns with lemon butter complement the wine’s citrus and stone fruit profile, while creamy pasta or chicken dishes echo its rounded texture. Cape Malay-style lightly spiced chicken can also work beautifully, as the wine’s acidity lifts the dish without overpowering the flavours. For something simpler, a summer salad with feta or goat’s cheese highlights its freshness and subtle floral notes.
