Vergenoegd Löw Estate Chardonnay 2023
Chardonnay
Description
Vergenoegd Löw Estate is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest working farms, located just outside Faure near False Bay. Its proximity to the ocean - less than five kilometres away - brings constant cooling breezes and slower, more even ripening, which is particularly well suited to Chardonnay.
What sets the estate apart is its rare calcareous, lime-rich soils, formed on an ancient seabed. These soils are especially favourable for Chardonnay, contributing to both texture and natural freshness in the wines. Alongside this, the estate follows a regenerative farming philosophy and careful, hands-on winemaking approach under winemaker Vusi Dalicuba, allowing the site to show clearly in the glass. The result is a Chardonnay that leans towards elegance and restraint, rather than overt richness.
Colour:
Bright gold with a clear, luminous edge.
Nose:
Layered and inviting, showing butterscotch and subtle oak notes alongside citrus marmalade, pineapple and a faint lanolin nuance.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a rounded, textured mouthfeel. Flavours of yellow citrus, lime and pineapple carry through, balanced by fresh acidity that keeps the wine focused. The oak influence adds gentle weight without dominating the fruit.
Finish:
Soft and persistent, tapering off with citrus and a lightly creamy note.

Vergenoegd Löw Estate Chardonnay 2023
- Food Pairing : Vergenoegd Löw Estate Chardonnay 2023 pairs comfortably with dishes that balance richness and freshness. Roast chicken with crispy potatoes is a natural fit, as the wine’s texture mirrors the dish while its acidity keeps things lifted. It also works well with creamy seafood dishes like prawn pasta or grilled line fish with a butter sauce, where the citrus edge cuts through richness. For something lighter, a chicken Caesar salad or vegetable gratin complements the wine’s rounded palate without overwhelming its more delicate coastal character.
