Thelema Mountain Vineyards’ Sutherland Pinot Noir comes from Elgin’s cool-climate vineyards nestled where altitude and Atlantic breezes slow ripening and preserve bright acidity and perfume. The estate’s philosophy marries meticulous vineyard management with gentle winemaking to highlight site expression, using hand sorting and partial whole-berry handling followed by nine months’ ageing in French oak (with a small fraction new barrels) to develop nuanced texture and complexity without overshadowing the finesse of the fruit. The result is a Pinot Noir with clarity, depth and balanced freshness that reflects both Elgin terroir and Thelema’s thoughtful approach.
