Swanepoel Wines is produced on Oude Compagnies Post Farm in Tulbagh, a valley surrounded by mountains and known for its warm inland climate moderated by evening cooling. These conditions allow Shiraz to ripen fully while retaining enough freshness to keep the wines balanced and energetic. Tulbagh has become increasingly respected for Rhône varieties, particularly Shiraz, where generous fruit and spice are natural strengths.
The Swanepoel range focuses on handcrafted wines that reflect origin and individuality. For Swanepoel Shiraz 2024, the producer notes a concentrated style matured in barrel for 24 months, indicating a serious, structured interpretation rather than a simple early-drinking red. The winemaking approach favours richness, integrated tannin and regional character, with distinctly Cape fynbos nuances.

Deep ruby with youthful purple depth.
Nose:
Blackberry, ripe plum and cassis lead the aromatics, followed by cracked white pepper, dried herbs and subtle oak spice.
Palate:
Full-bodied and concentrated, with dense dark berry fruit supported by soft, integrated tannins. The texture is generous yet controlled, while natural acidity keeps the palate focused. Savoury fynbos notes add complexity behind the fruit.
Finish:
Long and warming, finishing on black fruit, pepper and lingering herbal spice.
