Swanepoel Wines is based at Oude Compagnies Post in the Tulbagh valley, a region defined by its mountain surrounds and warm, dry climate. These conditions allow for consistent ripening, while cooler evening temperatures help retain balance and structure in the wines.
The Swanepoel Pinotage 2023 reflects a modern approach to South Africa’s signature varietal - focusing on purity of fruit rather than heavy extraction. The wine is matured in oak for around 18 months, adding texture and depth without dominating the fruit profile. The intention is to present Pinotage in a more approachable, energetic style that highlights freshness alongside structure.

Bright red fruit leads - strawberry, cherry and red plum - with subtle hints of spice and a faint earthy undertone.
