Strandveld Pofadderbos Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Strandveld Vineyards lies between Elim and Cape Agulhas, just a few kilometres from the ocean in one of the country’s most extreme cool-climate wine regions. Constant maritime winds, cold nights and slow ripening conditions shape wines with naturally high acidity, mineral tension and a distinctly coastal character.
The Pofadderbos Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a certified single-vineyard wine grown on rocky yellow ferricrete soils, named after the puff adders commonly found in the area. These challenging vineyard conditions produce small, concentrated berries with remarkable intensity and freshness. The wine is harvested in the cool early mornings before gentle pressing and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Extended lees contact adds texture and depth while preserving the vivid citrus and saline character that has become synonymous with Strandveld’s Sauvignon Blancs.
Colour:
Pale straw with bright green highlights and a crisp, youthful appearance.
Nose:
Ruby grapefruit, passion fruit and blackcurrant lead the aromatics, followed by lime leaf, fynbos and subtle oyster shell minerality.
Palate:
Fresh and textured, the palate combines citrus and tropical fruit with a creamy mid-palate and pronounced coastal minerality. Notes of grapefruit, white nectarine and herbs are supported by lively natural acidity, giving the wine both energy and structure without becoming sharp.
Finish:
Long, saline and refreshing, with lingering citrus peel, sea spray and savoury mineral notes on the finish.
