Stony Brook The J White 2024
Blend : White
Description
Stony Brook Vineyards is a small family-owned estate situated in the upper reaches of the Franschhoek Valley, where cool mountain air and significant day-night temperature variation help preserve freshness and aromatics in the vineyards. The estate has developed a reputation for thoughtful, small-batch wines that favour balance and site expression over overt winemaking influence.
Â
The J White 2024 continues that philosophy with a Bordeaux-inspired white blend built around Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The vineyards are grown on decomposed granite soils at elevation, contributing natural acidity and mineral tension to the wine. Careful fruit selection, gentle pressing and restrained oak handling allow the varietal character to remain clear and focused, resulting in a white blend that feels textured and layered while still maintaining energy and precision.
Â
Colour:
Bright pale gold with green reflections and excellent clarity.
Â
Nose:
Fresh aromas of lime, grapefruit and green melon are layered with subtle notes of gooseberry, white peach and fresh herbs. Gentle hints of wet stone and citrus blossom add complexity and lift.
Â
Palate:
Vibrant and textured, showing flavours of lemon zest, ripe pear and stone fruit balanced by crisp acidity. The Sauvignon Blanc contributes freshness and aromatic intensity, while the Semillon adds weight and a lightly waxy texture through the mid-palate. The wine remains focused and dry, with mineral detail carrying through the finish.
Â
Finish:
Clean and persistent, with lingering citrus, soft herbal notes and a saline mineral edge.
