Springfield Miss Lucy 2025
Blend : White
Description
Situated in the Robertson Valley, Springfield Estate is one of South Africa's most respected family-owned wineries. Run by the Bruwer family, descendants of French Huguenot settlers, the estate has become known for its commitment to minimal intervention winemaking and its belief that great wines should express both vineyard and vintage rather than cellar manipulation.
The Robertson region combines warm sunny days with cool evenings and limestone-rich soils, creating ideal conditions for producing white wines with both flavour concentration and natural freshness. Springfield's "Made on Honour" philosophy is evident throughout the range, and Miss Lucy is no exception. This unique white blend is crafted from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Gris, with each component contributing freshness, texture and complexity. Extended lees contact adds depth while preserving the wine's lively character and purity of fruit.
Colour:
Bright pale straw with subtle green highlights and youthful brilliance.
Nose:
Expressive aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest and citrus blossom lead the bouquet, followed by hints of gooseberry, white peach and delicate herbal notes. A subtle mineral character adds further complexity.
Palate:
Fresh and energetic with layers of citrus, grapefruit and ripe stone fruit. The Sauvignon Blanc brings vibrancy and lift, while the Sémillon and Pinot Gris contribute texture and breadth across the mid-palate. Crisp acidity keeps everything focused, resulting in a wine that feels both refreshing and satisfying.
Finish:
Long, clean and persistent, with lingering citrus, gentle minerality and a mouthwatering freshness that invites another sip.
