Spier Wine Farm, one of South Africa’s oldest and most environmentally conscious estates, lies in Stellenbosch within the broader Coastal Region. The Yellow Wood range reflects Spier’s long-standing commitment to organic farming, where vineyards are cultivated without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Grapes are grown in decomposed granite soils with clay content, offering both structure and water retention, while varied aspects and elevations contribute to complexity. Winemaking is deliberately restrained: hand-harvested fruit, gentle handling, and a combination of stainless steel and French oak fermentation, followed by time on the lees to build texture. The result is a wine that balances natural fruit expression with subtle depth and structure.

Nose:
Aromatic and layered, showing white peach, pear and litchi upfront, with hints of citrus peel and a gentle spice note adding complexity.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a rounded, slightly textured mouthfeel from lees ageing. Stone fruit and citrus flavours carry through, supported by a soft, integrated acidity. The Grenache Blanc component adds a subtle richness and breadth without losing freshness.
Finish:
