Six Dogs Distillery is located on a working farm near De Wet in the Breede River Valley, on the edge of the Karoo. The surrounding semi-arid landscape is rich in hardy indigenous plants, many of which contribute distinctive aromatic character to the distillery’s spirits.
Founded by Charles and Marie Back, Six Dogs takes a thoughtful, small-batch approach to distilling, using carefully sourced botanicals and traditional copper pot stills. Sustainability and traceability play an important role in the distillery’s philosophy, with several botanicals grown or foraged locally on the farm.
Six Dogs Karoo Gin is inspired by the flavours of the Karoo, incorporating botanicals such as wild lavender, Karoo thorn flower and citrus alongside classic juniper. Distillation is carried out slowly to extract delicate aromatics, creating a gin that reflects both the rugged landscape and the botanical diversity of the region.
