Rust en Vrede, one of Stellenbosch’s historic wine estates, has long been associated with producing structured red wines and traditional Cape brandy. Established in 1694, the estate sits on the slopes of the Helderberg in Stellenbosch, where warm days and cooling ocean breezes create favourable conditions for grape growing.
The Rust en Vrede 12 Year Potstill Brandy is crafted in the traditional Cape style, distilled in copper pot stills and matured for a minimum of twelve years in French oak barrels. This extended maturation allows the spirit to develop complexity, depth and a refined texture. Cape potstill brandy follows methods closely aligned with those used in Cognac production, resulting in a spirit that balances fruit character with oak-derived richness and spice.

Deep amber with golden highlights.
Nose:
Rich aromas of dried apricot, orange peel and caramelised sugar emerge first, followed by notes of vanilla, toasted oak and warm baking spices.
Palate:
Full-bodied and smooth, with flavours of dried fruit, honey and toffee layered with subtle oak spice. The texture is rounded and mellow, reflecting the extended time spent in barrel.
Finish:
Long and warming, with lingering notes of caramel, spice and gentle oak.
