Reserve De La Comtesse Pauillac 2018
Cabernet Sauvignon
Description
Reserve De La Comtesse 2018 is the second wine of the renowned Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, one of Pauillac’s historic classified growth estates on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Situated near the Gironde estuary, the vineyards benefit from the region’s famed gravel soils layered over clay and limestone - terroir that consistently delivers Cabernet Sauvignon with structure, perfume and longevity.
Under the direction of Nicolas Glumineau, the estate has embraced a thoughtful balance between Bordeaux tradition and modern precision. Sustainable farming practices, biodynamic vineyard work in selected parcels, careful plot-by-plot harvesting and restrained oak ageing all contribute to a wine that reflects Pauillac’s classic character without feeling overly austere. Reserve De La Comtesse is crafted with the same attention to detail as the grand vin, offering a more approachable interpretation of the estate’s style while retaining impressive depth and composure.
Colour:
Deep ruby with a dark garnet core, showing concentration and youthful intensity in the glass.
Nose:
Blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe plum lead the aromatics, followed by cedar, graphite and cigar box notes typical of Pauillac. Hints of violet, mint, sweet spice and lightly toasted oak add further complexity.
Palate:
Full-bodied yet composed, with layered dark berry fruit supported by finely textured tannins and fresh acidity. The Merlot component adds plushness through the mid-palate, while Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and definition. Notes of cassis, pencil shavings, liquorice and subtle tobacco unfold gradually with air.
Finish:
Long, savoury and polished, finishing with lingering dark fruit, cedar and gentle spice.

Reserve De La Comtesse Pauillac 2018
- Food Pairing : Reserve De La Comtesse Pauillac 2018 pairs particularly well with richly flavoured dishes that can match its structure and savoury depth. Roast lamb with rosemary, grilled ribeye, beef short ribs or venison work beautifully alongside the wine’s firm tannins and dark fruit profile. It also suits slow-cooked mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses, where the wine’s freshness and cedar-spice notes bring balance to richer flavours. Decanting before serving helps soften the tannins and allows the layered aromatics to open fully.
