Rascallion Vinyl Collection 45 RPM 2024 is produced by Rascallion Wines, a Wellington-based négociant project founded by wine marketer Ross Sleet in partnership with Wellington Wines. The brand was established in 2017 with the aim of crafting expressive Cape wines that celebrate both creativity and place while remaining approachable and food friendly.
The Vinyl Collection range takes inspiration from classic record speeds - 33⅓ and 45 revolutions per minute - reflecting the idea that wine, like music, is meant to be enjoyed and shared. Fruit for the 45 RPM is sourced from vineyards in and around Wellington, a region known for warm days and cooling mountain influences that allow Mediterranean varieties such as Cinsault and Grenache to ripen with generous fruit while retaining freshness.
In the cellar, the focus is on gentle extraction and a light touch with oak to preserve the wine’s natural aromatics and vibrant fruit profile. The result is a lively Cape red blend designed for easy enjoyment while still offering the structure and character expected from Wellington vineyards.
