Quoin Rock Estate lies on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain in Stellenbosch, a site defined by elevation, varied soils, and cooling influences that temper the Cape’s warm climate. The vineyards draw from a mix of decomposed granite, koffieklip and gravelly soils, contributing both structure and mineral detail to the wines.
Under current ownership, the estate has been carefully redeveloped with a clear focus on quality-driven viticulture and modern cellar practices. Winemaking here leans toward a polished New World style, balanced by restraint and attention to terroir. The Chardonnay 2021 reflects this philosophy: whole-bunch pressed fruit, fermentation across oak, concrete and stainless steel, and extended lees contact all contribute to texture and depth without overshadowing the fruit.

Nose:
Ripe citrus and orange peel lead, followed by hints of vanilla spice, toasted brioche and subtle oak influence.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy texture. Flavours of lemon, citrus peel and stone fruit are supported by fresh acidity and a gentle oak framework. The wine shows both weight and clarity, with minerality adding structure.
Finish:
Persistent and clean, with lingering lemon and lime notes and a lightly savoury, mineral edge.
