Penderyn Sherry Wood

Penderyn Distillery, located in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, revived commercial Welsh whisky production after more than a century of absence. Established in 2000, the distillery quickly became recognised for producing elegant, fruit-driven whiskies using a distinctive Faraday still design that creates a particularly refined and clean spirit.

Penderyn Sherrywood forms part of the distillery’s Gold Range and is matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This combination brings together the lighter, fruit-forward Penderyn house style with the richer dried-fruit and spice notes associated with sherry maturation. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, preserving texture and flavour intensity.

Colour:
Warm amber with polished golden highlights.

Nose:
Aromas of dark fruit, rich toffee and hazelnuts lead the nose, followed by green apple, honey and gentle oak spice.

Palate:
Smooth and rounded with flavours of sultana, praline, caramel and dried fruit layered over creamy malt and soft spice. The sherry influence adds richness and warmth, while the distillery’s lighter spirit style keeps the whisky fresh and approachable rather than overly heavy.

Finish:
Long and warming with lingering notes of toffee, dried fruit, mocha and gentle oak spice.
